LMCA is an academic homeschool support program designed and taught by qualified homeschool educators. Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at our Greensburg location.
Our two-day per week program offers science, literature, writing, history, art, and more for students in grades 1 to 12.
Instructors provide follow-up assignments, additional reading, and projects to be completed at home on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. It is the parents' responsibility to help students complete assignments at home on those days.
Although we recognize parents as the primary educators of their children, completing home assignments is mandatory for enrollment at LMCA. Parents and students are required to sign contracts stating home assignments will be completed. Time to complete home assignments vary depending on grade level and subject matter. We generally expect high school-aged students to be spending four hours per week, per subject, completing assignments for LMCA classes. Families who consistently do not complete assignments may be asked to leave the program, and are not guarenteed a refund.
While a Christian foundation is present in the curriculum, religion as a subject is not taught. LMCA respects the right and responsibility of each family to decide how best to fulfill this ministry. Enrolled students may be exposed to and participate in celebrations surrounding Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, etc. Please contact us with more questions regarding our holiday celebrations.
LMCA was the vision of several families who came together to offer support and enrichment in the area of homeschooling. The idea was that by teaching subjects in common, students would receive the classroom experience with peers, as well as maintain a strong home learning aspect. Subject area instructors offered support to parents as well as students.
LMCA started in 2013 with 22 students in grades 1 to 8 and offered five subjects. Nearly doubling in size, LMCA started its 2015-2016 academic year with 42 students in grades 1 to 10, and offered six core subjects as well as four optional electives.
We offer a wide variety of subject-area instruction, but are unable to offer all classes required for PA graduation requirements. We encourage parents to look into the requirements for their district if they seek a diploma program for their student.
